type: green

origin: china

region: zhejiang

caffeine: medium

price level: $$$$

World famous Gunpowder green tea from China. It derives its name from the Chinese word ‘Zhucha’, meaning Pearl Tea, and from the tightly rolled shape of the leaves.

Although there are several grades available in Pearl tea, the most famous are ‘Pinhead Gunpowder’ and ‘Temple of Heaven Gunpowder’. In both cases, three factors determine the high quality:

Body: Should be small, tightly rolled leaves.,

Regularity: The size of the pearls should be consistent.,

Uniform: dark color.

Dark color with I think a slightly rich flavor. No added scents to distort the taste. The pebbles are quite pleasing to shake into a tea strainer.

Im not a fan of gunpowder tea and this one is no exception. Too smoky and astringent
