To make our Lemon Myrtle we blended Sri Lankan black teas from the St. Clair Estate with lemon myrtle, a plant native to Australia that belongs to the eucalyptus family. Lemon Myrtle is harvested year-round. In early summer, the tree is covered with clusters of white, four-petalled flowers. The taste and smell are similar to lemon, verbena and lemongrass, but not at all acidic. It is often described as "more lemon than lemon". Lemon Myrtle tea is a pleasantly light-bodied tea with a distinctively smooth lemon flavor. The lemon myrtle provides the essential flavor of lemon without the tartness. Sri Lanka, once known as Ceylon, is a beautiful tropical island that lies just twenty-two miles off the southern tip of India. Sri Lanka supplies about 25% of the world's tea with nearly six hundred thousand acres of tea under cultivation.
