region: qianjiazhai village yunnan

Only 10kg of this extraordinarily rare micro-lot were produced. Harvested from the ancient tea forest in Qianjiazhai village, a region famous for its Pu'er teas. Some of the oldest known tea trees in the world are found in the lush forests of Qianjiazhai, many over one thousand years old. This tea was processed minimally, just like Silver Needles, revealing beautiful aromas of honeydew melon, damask rose, and cucumber water. The precious buds are cloaked in layers of tea leaf. This effect, called yabao or "shielding the bud" occurs in late winter or early spring, especially on elder tea trees. The buds also have a lovely pink-purple pigmentation. These red pigments can sometimes develop on the leaves of old tea trees, as a secondary plant defense mechanism against sunburn. Aromas of honeydew melon, damask rose, and cucumber water.
