 (7 reviews)

type: black

origin: china pu erh

caffeine: strong

price level: $$$$

Generously sized for teapot brewing, this extra large pearl gives the term tea ball new meaning. Compressed fermented five year old shou style pu erh leaves are wonderfully earthy, smooth and comforting. They take second infusions well as they slowly unfurl or pop one in your travel tumbler for a day of smooth, earthy sips. Steep at 212°F for 5 minutes

Sweet, tobacco like almost like molasses and tobacco flavor with hint of prune with astringent mouth feel.

Other members of my family enjoyed it, but unflavored pu erh is just a bit too weirdly fishy and earthy for me.

So much fun to watch these brew and unfurl. Love the earthy mineral notes of Pu-erh. I add just a touch of stevia. Pu-erh tea is quickly becoming my coffee replacement. I love how these pearls are enough to brew a 24 oz pot of tea.

I love Pu-Erh! This is a fun tea to brew. I did the suggested 1/4 pearl for a cup and wound up steeping for 10 minutes at 212, but it was a little weak. Next time I think I will try a half pearl to get the full flavor.
