This is a strange one. I wondered at mixing black and white tea, but the ingredients were interesting, and I love anything with coconut! Out of the pack it smells--to me--just like cherry pipe tobacco! So weird, right? The flavor is just not doing it for me though. It's too perfumey or sonething. Maybe due to the rose petals? Anyway, I'm glad I tried it, but I wouldn't drink it again.

  • bai hao yin zhen

    

This tea is a real treat! Very special and delicate. Probably the best white tea out there.

  • Brigadoon Breakfast

    

I had to try this one due to the novelty and limited availability! It is good, but very similar in taste to their straight up Keemun/English breakfast--malty, rich and comforting. Did not get any of the Silver Needle flavor (which was OK with me because white and black tea just seems like a very strange tasting combo). There were not many Silver Needle buds in my bag, I think that and the cornflowers are more for a pretty visual accent, representing the Scottish flag. Will it last me till 2028? Probably not. ;)

  • Matcha Genmaicha

    

This is delicious, like the regular genmaicha, but amped up from the added matcha. It has the best umami mouthfeel and is perfect for a freezing winter day. Toasty, roasty, popped goodness! I don't know if I like this or the regular one better; I'll drink this if I feel I want some extra caffeine. :)

  • Wild Yu Chi Black Tea

    

Malty, sweet, with a hint of sweet potato and cotton candy. Delicious!

  • Lemon & Ginger

    

Not bad for a teabag tea. I had a free sample and a bad cold, so I gulped it down. Heavy on the ginger like the other reviewers said, warmed my tummy and felt marginally better.

  • Keemun Rhapsody

    

It's good, but I think I prefer the regular Keemun/English Breakfast one. For the price increase, I didn't notice much difference.

  • Watermelon Cooler

    

This was actually delicious! And I had it hot (most peoople say it's better cold). I did get the Jolly Rancher vibe, but it was refreshing rather than overpoweing. This was a really good balance of flavors. I can't wait to try this one iced!

  • Lemon Meringue Green

    

Not crazy about it. Tastes like Citron Green with creme.

  • Green Rooibos Bonita

    

This wasn't bad; I kept an open mind while drinking it, because I despise the taste of red rooibos (it actually makes me feel nauseous when I drink it). This was a lighter, nonoffensive herbal tea with fruity flavor. While I wouldn't buy it, I was actually able to drink the entire cup, which is a first for rooibos! For fruity herbals, I much more like Adagio's white tea offerings, like White Peach.

  • White Toasted Coconut

    

I love anything coconut, so was very excited to try this. It was a little lightly flavored at one tsp/cup, but good. Next time I brew it I'll try doubling it up to see if the flavor comes through more.

  • ENGLISH BREAKFAST

    

Pretty forgettable tea; flat and boring with no maltiness or body.

  • Jeju Sejak

    

Delicious! I took off half a star becuase it is very astringent. Aside from that it is a winner! Very buttery, and is kind of like a cross between sencha and Yun Wu. Am really enjoying my first steep of this!

  • Chamomile

    

Very nice chamomile, full of honey flavor. A good bedtime tea.

  • English Breakfast

    

Weak and flavorless. Adagio's English Breakfast IMO is the best, and this one is not even close.

  • Always Nuts

    

I really like this one, with the sweet apples and dry nutty goodness--but like the other reviewers have said, the tartness of the hibiscus and rose hips clashes with the flavors. This would be much better without them, I think.

  • Peppermint Bark

    

This was gifted to me, and at first I was bummed out because I HATE red rooibos. Surprisingly, this was really, really good! Green rooibos is way more palatable. This is an easy drinking dessert type tea when you don't need the extra caffeine.

  • Matcha Chocolate

    

Didn't love this one. To me, the flavors of matcha and cocoa just don't work well together. Weirdly bitter, even with a bunch of sweetener.

  • Tai Lake Pi Luo Chun

    

Pretty, fuzzy little buds with a floral (I get honeysuckle) flavor and a smoky finish. Not my fave of the Masters teas, but it's always fun to try them!

  • Cranberry Nut Muffin Green

    

This was an interesting, yummy flavored green. The nut flavoring was not artificial tasting and the craberries gave it a pretty visual and tart flavor. This one is better with a little sweetener, I think.

  • Decaf Mango

    

Don't love this one. A little flat, can barely taste any mango. I'm not big on Ceylan decafs so it could just be my nose, although I would prefer a lot more juicy mango flavor.

  • Peach Bellini

    

Such a nice, mellow, delicious cup of tea! I was skeptical because of all the apple pieces, but the peach flavor really shone through. I'm a weirdo, but I really like eating the little bits of fruit after it's done steeping, yum!

  • Fujian Baroque

    

Really solid earthy, woody, malty taste! This one is very good. I don't get any of the cocoa notes, but I still have a bit of COVID nose, so it's probably just me.

  • Mambo

    

This one tasted just OK to me. I didn;t detect any standout notes. I'm glad I tried it, because I was curious about it and I like Yunnan Jig. But I wouldn't get it again~

  • POMEGRANATE OOLONG

    

Bleccchhh! Probably my review is biased because I don't like either oolong or pomegranate, but this was undrinkable for me. The flavoring was sour like hibiscus and fake tasting. I'm sorry, I love many of Harney's teas, just not this one!

  • Blue Mango Iced Tea

    

I have to agree with the majority of the other reviewers here. The color is beautiful, but the taste is more herbal/woody than mango-y. There is a funky undertone which is either due to the lemongrass or the butterfly pea flower, but whatever it is, it is off-putting to me, kind of like a dirty armpit! I'm glad I tried this but would not get it again.

  • White Fuzzy Navel

    

I was feeling reckless when I ordered this, as I detest rooibos. But it was better than I expected--the white tea flavor is way more forward, along with the peach and orange (and I think, mango?) so the rooibos is mainly hidden in the background. Probably wouldn't get this again (unless they removed the rooibos) but it was a fun try. Very similar flavor to Adagio's White Peach, which is delicious.

  • Anhui Keemun

    

It was good, but not great. I didn’t get any of the complex notes listed. For the price I think I prefer Adagio’s regular Keemun which is delicious.

  • Wild Strawberry

    

I was expecting to not like this one (because of the hibiscus and rose) but it wasn't bad! There was enough strawberry to offset some of the hibiscus sourness. I'm not really an iced tea drinker, but I bet this one would be good cold.

  • Golden Monkey

    

This is a very yummy black tea that I got a portion sample of, and I'm going to have to get more! I wish my nose and palate were refined enough to get all those intricate notes listed, but I guess I'm just not that cultured, lol. I get mainly a nice strong, malty, honey sweetness that is similar (to me) to a golden Yunnan. Looking forward to successive steeps. Five pinkies up! ;)

  • Gemini

    

Light, sweet, and juicy. To me it tastes exactly like I remember Adagio's White Peach to taste--it would be interesting to do a side by side comparison.

  • Jin Kong Que

    

Delicious! I've never tried a tea from Yunnan I didn't like. This one is special. Brewed at 5 min/195, it is a heavenly, malty aroma. The flavor is malt and honey and that charcteristic Yunnun taste. I will be buying more of this!

  • YUNNAN GOLDEN TIPS

    

I don't think I've ever drank anything from Yunnan that wasn't delicious. This is no exception! It's a hearty, earthy daily drinker that has a mild honey aftertaste (I have a cold so probably not getting the full effect, but what I can taste is really good). Edited 5/17/22. Wow. My cold is going away, and this one just keeps getting better and better!!! DELISH....

  • ORGANIC SENCHA

    

Delicious, nutty, buttery sencha. Harney has really great quality teas, and this one does not disappoint!

  • White Eternal Spring

    

Too fruity for my liking. All the fruitiness obscured the delicate white tea flavor. My first thought when drinking this was "this would make a damn good ice tea" and I really like my tea hot! Will have to try to chill this down and see how it tastes.

  • COCONUT OOLONG

    

I'm not a big fan of oolongs--to me, they have a kind of fecally note that is really off-putting. But this one is pretty tasty! The coconut flavor is very realistic (nothing worse than fake coconut) and has a roasted character that is really nice and warm. I just mixed this with Adagio's Chocolate Truffle and it tastes like a Mounds!

  • Green Dragon Pearls

    

I have to re-brew this one at a higher temp with less water. I put it in a small glass teapot with one ball and brewed it at 165 for 3 minutes (my bad, but I always brew looseleaf greens at 165). It was really weak and I put it back in for several more minutes, but was still too weak to get any appreciable flavor aside from a subtle green smokiness. Not giving up in this one, as I have several more balls to play with! (that did not sound right, lol)

  • Yunnan Noir

    

Every Yunnan I've tried from Adagio is delicious, and this is no exception! It has a malty and strongly honey flavor that lingers on the tongue after you drink it. The color is a rich reddish brown. No astringency at all, even though the second steep I forgot about it and left it in the infuser for a loooong time. I am definitely ordering some more of this. Ten pinkies up!

  • PEACH FRUIT TEA

    

I agree with the other reviewer who said they mostly taste hibiscus. I was hoping for straight sweet, peachy goodness, but no luck. Why is it most herbal fruit teas (or tisanes, whatever) have to have an overwhelming amount of hibiscus? Yuk.

  • Cat Scratch

    

This one is a solid "meh," in my opinion. I was hoping for more (it looks and sounds very cool). I didn't get much--if any--of the caramel, and there could be more chocolate. (Everything could use more chocolate!) My caveat is that I'm not much of a fan of chai, and also, I've found that I love Adagio's straight, unflavored teas a lot more than the flavored ones. So it's quite possibly just personal preference. :)

  • GINGER PEACH BLACK TEA

    

I thought I would love this one 1.) because I normally really like Stash's teas, and 2.) I love anything with peaches in it. However, the spice taste just gave it a funky, nasty flavor to me. Perhaps it was the licorice? Yuk.

  • Chocolate Hazelnut Decaf Black Tea

    

This tea is so freaking delicious; you would never think it was a teabag tea if you drank it with your eyes closed. This is like a decadent dessert drink without the alcohol. One of my go-to bedtime cups!

  • Candy Apple Concoction

    

Like the other reviewer, I also got this in a mystery box. It is a nice cinnamon-apply fall flavor. The red sprinkles give it a cool touch! (I love anything sprinkly or sparkly in my tea, lol)

  • Pumpkin Potion

    

While I'm not a big fan of honeybush teas, this wasn't a bad one to have in my decaf arsenal. Could have more cocoa and more cinnamon, but that's probably just personal preference.

  • Arabica Mocha

    

This was really yummy. I used to drink a ton of coffee (pre COVID, which made it taste gross, so I became a tea drinker) and this reminds me of the taste I loved. The hazelnut and chocolate shine through. It is very good, especially if you are looking for a coffee substitute.

  • Green Popcorn

    

I have bought this in both the loose-leaf and the bagged form, and I love both. Adagio's Genmai Cha is just delicious. I used to bring little packets of this to my former job, and when I needed a "time out" from the stress, I would sip it, smile, and chill. There is something that is just so comforting about the toasty rice and tiny popcorns mixed with the savory green tea. :D

  • Honeybush

    

I can't get down with this one (also not a fan of rooibos). Just has a weird flavor for me, which I'm sure is just personal preference. I've also tried to blend it to try to kill/camoflage the test, but it's still a hard pass.

  • Assam Melody

    

This was very good. It was slightly sweet and malty, not at all bitter (I liked it much better than the green assam). Tasty!

  • Darjeeling Sungma Summer

    

Pretty "meh" tasting to me, like a weak Ceylon. But to be fair, I have no idea what the temp was, as I brewed it at work with one of those hot water dispensers. Will have to try it with my temperature controlled pot at home~

Update 4/7/23: Brewed at 195 at 3 minutes. This was better than the first time, although not one of my favorites. It was more astringent than I cared for, but more malty than a Ceylon. Much prefer the Yunnans and Laoshans for blacks. Didn't get any of the grape/spice/squash notes.

  • Yunnan Jig

    

This was so tasty! A mellow, earthy black tea with a hint of sweetness. I can see why people rave over this one; it is really delicious.

  • Lapsang Souchong

    

This is literally the worst tasting tea I have ever tried. It was like drinking a mouthful of campfire ashes and Slim Jim juice. I almost puked after one sip and had to dump the cup, run in the bathroom, brush my teeth, and spray air freshener to kill the smell (it smelled like a pig roast. I'm vegetarian, so that may have been part of my revulsion). My husband said the house smelled like Snausages (he loves BBQ meat, BTW) long after I dumped it. I guess this is a "love it or hate it" tea. Ugh, never again.

  • Turmeric Bliss

    

I was surprised at how much I liked this one. It was warm and comforting, with a spiciness like Indian food, yet citrusy at the same time. Really nice cup before bedtime; I felt like I was getting healthier just drinking it! The hibiscus and ginger wasn't overwhelming like they can be in some blends.

  • English Breakfast

    

Meh. Nothing special. I would never get this again...Adagio's English Breakfast is 1000X better.

  • Ghoul Gulp

    

Really nice decaf tea! The vanilla flavor is rounded and real, not artificial tasting like many vanillas out there. There are nice big coconut curls in the tin; the flavor is predominantly vanilla rather than coconut. This one is in my evening winding-down rotation. :)

  • Bat Brew

    

I did not like this one. Not enough chocolate for my liking, and too much chai...this may be personal preference as I am not a big fan of chai, ginger and cardamom in particular. Also, the little marchmallow sprinkly things did not melt completely and were kind of gloppy and nasty in my diffuser (3 minutes @195).

  • DECAF CEYLON

    

This was decent, a nice bedtime tea that had the taste of Ceylan but no astringency or caffeine. I blended it with half straight peppermint tea, and it was really good!

  • JAPANESE SENCHA

    

This was delicious! Buttery, vegetal, nutty, and not the least bit bitter. I got a sample of this with an order and loved it. I will be buying a tin of this for sure! The price is very decent, too.

  • Matcha

    

This was the first time I ever tried making matcha. I used 1 tsp for an 8 oz cup. It was very bitter! I've read many reviews saying this is not bitter, but mine was. I had to add a bunch of stevia. I'm going to keep playing with this, maybe try using less matcha and adding some almond milk.

  • ORGANIC PEPPERMINT

    

It's peppermint...to me straight peppermint tastes all the same.

  • SOHO BLEND

    

Delicious, tastes like a Mounds. Excellent chocolate and coconut flavor, yum!!!

  • CHAMOMILE

    

Really good chamomile. Strong honeylike flavor. Got this as a free sample with an order.

  • Tiger Eye

    

Just OK, IMO. The chocolate is subtle--Adagio has better chocolate teas like Chocolate Truffle--and the caramel tastes artificial, to me. I was expecting to like this one more than I did. Not a standout.

  • Decaf Vanilla

    

This was very good! It had a rich, bourbony, almost vanilla-pipe-tobacco-y flavor. One of the best decaf teas I have tried! Vanilla can come across as artificial and plasticky. But this one was redolent of a delicate incense, and made for a nice, contemplative cup.

  • White Christmas White Tea

    

This was surprisingly good; I didn't think ginger and peppermint would go together, but somehow it worked. It was an earthy, subdued yet minty white tea.

  • ORGANIC GREEN WITH CITRUS & GINKGO

    

I got this as a free sample with my order. It's not my favorite. I think this would appeal more to people who like an Earl Grey style of green tea. Too citrusy tasting for me. I have no idea of what gingko tastes like, so I can't comment on that.

  • DECAFFEINATED SENCHA

    

I was thrilled to find a decaf sencha, but it tastes very flat. It's better than nothing if you want a decaf green tea to drink at night, but it has virtually no flavor.

  • Yunnan Pu Erh White

    

Wow! Is it white tea, or a pu erh? It's both! it seems contradictory to have these two styles together, but it really works! It has the look of Silver Needle--with the big gorgeous fuzzy buds--but the predominant taste is of a light, peppery pu erh, without any fishy or musty aroma. It's lovely. I never would have bought this for myself because of the price, but a dear tea friend gifted it to me. I will hoard my beautiful little tin and save this one for special occasions! (190/5 minutes)

  • Silver Sprout

    

Good, but not great. The taste is mild, slightly grassy. I'm not picking up on any of the other notes mentioned in the description. This is a good-priced basic green tea, but I think Adagio has far better offerings at a similar (or slightly higher) price. (3min./175)

  • Maple Creme Oolong

    

I didn't love this one, but I didn't hate it either. As I am not a fan of maple flavoring, it tasted better than I thought it would.

  • Casablanca Twist

    

Really good tea. I've never had Moroccan Mint tea, this is the closest I've had. Now that I've tried this I'm really looking forward to it! I do like straight mint tea, but this is a very nice blend of darjeeling and mint. The darjeeling is a nice alternative to a green tea or ceylon base. I would get this again.

  • Thai Tea

    

Wasn't a big fan of this one. Very bitter, and the fake vanilla taste overwhelmed all the other flavors.

  • Valentines

    

What a delicious indulgence! It is very chocolatey, while the strawberry is more in the background for a subtle berry tang. The rose petals are more for decoration than flavor. Could only be made better with more chocolate chips! and a bit of stevia to sweeten it up. (195/3 min.)

  • Cream Tea

    

This is good, but better as part of a blend than by itself. (195/3 minutes)

  • DARJEELING

    

I never had Darjeeling before. This came as a free sample with a Harney order. I accidentally way oversteeped it--12 minutes at 195--and it was still very good, with a rich, satisfying earthy taste. No bitterness at all. I'm a green tea drinker, but surprisingly really enjoyed this one.

  • MATCHA IRI GENMAICHA

    

This is the most delicious genmaicha I have ever tasted. If I could give it 6 stars I would. This one is best brewed in a glass mug, as it is a really unique shade of lime green. It is also turbid, due to the matcha particles. It looks like some kind of witch's brew or potion! The taste is exquisite. It has a nutty, toasty, sesame oil aroma and flavor that is warm and comforting and fills the senses. This is the only genmaicha I ever need to buy. (2.5 min./165)

  • Pumpkin Spice

    

I'm getting all spice, no pumpkin. Like other reviewers have said, it's more like a chai. Too much clove for me.

  • MANGO FRUIT TEA

    

Smells better than it tastes. Very sour, the hibiscus and rosehips overwhelm everything else. Even though there are real mango chunks in it, you can't taste any mango. I would not get this again.

  • Masala Chai

    

Yum! Nice spicy chai with a godd balance of spices. Reminds me of the masala chai you get at Indian restaurants.

  • Silver Needle

    

This is a delicious, delicate, fragrant tea that is floral with a light, fresh hay flavor. It is to be savored and drank slowly while inhaling the gentle steam rising from your cup. This nectar is pricey, but I'm going to get a small bag of it for a special treat now and then! Instant relaxation in a mug. :)

  • Green Assam

    

First time I've ever tried an Assam. I love green tea, but this doesn't taste like a green tea to me. I didn't get any of the subtle notes listed in the description. It was very astringent.

  • Gingerbread

    

It's good, not my favorite, but nice. Not getting much ginger, which is fine with me. I do taste cinnamon and clove. Better with a touch of sugar.

  • Yerba Mate

    

Undrinkable, tastes nothing like green tea . Tastes like weak, nastily herb-flavored hot water.

  • HOT CINNAMON SPICE

    

Delicious! Like other reviewers have said, it's like drinking cinnamon red hots, or Big Red gum. It tastes the way one of those clove/cinnamon oranges smell. It is very strong and is naturally sweet, no sugar needed. Not for the faint of heart!

  • White Peony

    

This was so underwhelming to me. First off, there were no buds in my package, it was all dry leaves and twigs. The smell was very light. The taste was so light it was almost nonexistent. Adagio has much better white teas; their White Peach is delicious, as is their Silver Needle. I will likely wind up blending the rest of my bag with other teas to boost the flavor.

  • Wuyi Ensemble

    

Nice plain oolong. Minerally and warm tasting. Pleasant enough on its own, but not special enough that I would want to have it again; Adagio has much better teas, at least for me.

  • Strawberry Tea

    

Just OK. Fruity but too bitter, probably due to the raspberry leaves. Definitely need sweetener with this one.

  • Candy Apple

    

Nice cup of tea. I definitely tasted the apple and cinnamon, but didn't get the caramel--to me, it was more of a vanilla flavor. Very enjoyable on a cold morning! (undetermined temp/3 min.)

  • ROYAL WEDDING TEA

    

This is SO DELICIOUS!! New favorite. It is a realistic chocolate, coconut flavor that is light (due to the white tea) but satisfying. Like a guilt-free dessert. I will definitely be buying this again.

  • Wenshan Mist Green

    

Very subtle flavor. Tried this one several times, even gong-fu brewed it to try to bring out more of the flavor, but this one is very underwhelming to me. Adagio has some freaking wonderful green teas, this just doesn't happen to be one of them, IMO.

  • Kentucky Bourbon

    

I had to throw out my bag of this. All I could taste is lapsang, ugh. It made me gag! To me it tastes like drinking Slim Jims boiled in hot water...I really do NOT like lapsang, or bourbon so it could just be me.

  • Cha Cha

    

I was expecting to love this one--as I am a fan of chamomile-based herbals--but it was just a "meh" for me. It is predominantly chamomile, with strong lemongrass flavor, but I got no peppermint taste at all. I dumped some peppermint into my bag to brighten it up. I think this will bump it up a star. As is, it is just bland.

  • Peach Tea

    

Sweet, juicy, real peach flavor. Yum! Would be good blended with the Cream tea.

  • Peppermint

    

Delicious strong, flavorful, high-quality peppermint. Delicious by itself or blending with a chamomile or chocolate tea. Refreshing nighttime cup, and great for an upset tummy (or not).

  • Chamomile

    

Delicious, straight out good quality chamomile. Nothing more, nothing less. Great by itself or with honey as a nighttime cup.

  • Happy Belly

    

This is your typical laxative tea. Doesn't taste good, but will produce the desired effects.

  • Keemun Concerto

    

Really nice black tea. Rich and savory, with no bitterness at all and a nice toasty flavor (195/3 min.)

  • English Breakfast

    

Mmmm, this one is yummy! I used to think I didn't like black tea, but I think it was mainly Ceylon I wasn't digging. This is a nice, rich earthy brew with almost a woody aroma and no astringency. Really good tea!

  • Ti Kuan Yin

    

Not getting all the hype on this one. It's OK. But on the weak side. Light, mineral, I agree with the people who said it's more like a white tea. (180/3 min., 2 steeps)

  • WHITE PEACH MATCHA

    

Oooh, this was SO BITTER. I had high hopes for it. I brewed at the recommended 175 for 3 minutes, but it was almost undrinkable. I'm going to play around with the temps and steeping time--and update-- because this sounds like it should be a lovely tea.

  • Yunnan Gold

    

This is so delicious! I am not usually a fan of black tea, but wow. What a flavorful, yummy cuppa. It is not bitter like a Ceylan, and has a malty, rich, almost honeylike flavor. It is a beautiful amber color in my clear mug, and I am loving it! (4 minutes @ 195)

  • Foxtrot

    

I was surprised that I liked this so much, because it has rooibos in it. But the combination of vanilla, chamomile, and mint was delicious (I had to knock off a star because rooibos makes me nauseous, and I could only finish half the cup).

  • 40 Winks

    

This was a nice herbal blend. The mint and chamomile covered up much of the stinky-sweat-socks valerian flavor. It is a pretty tea, with a lot going on.

  • Chestnut

    

This one tasted weird to me. I smelled like Indian spices in the bag, and had a strange artificial nut flavor that I just did not like. Sorry, this one was two pinkies down for me!

  • Fruit Sangria, 15 Count

    

This was a nice nighttime tea. Sour yet sweet, with strawberry-forward fruit flavors. A tasty, caffeine-free herbal tea.

  • Cranberry

    

Sour and slightly sweet. More of a raspberry leaf flavor than cranberry to me. Better with some added sugar.

  • White Blueberry

    

Nice light, gently fruity tea, almost like an herbal tea.

  • Candy Cane

    

I was expecting to love this one because of the little crushed-up candycanes (I love texture and visual punch in my tea, lol). The peppermint flavor was good, but I kept getting this really buttery/creamy note--almost like butter-flavored popcorn taste--that just didn't sit right with me.

  • Scottish Breakfast

    

This just tastes like regular black tea to me, nothing special (FWIW I'm not a black tea fan, I love greens).

  • Honeybush Apricot

    

I wanted to like this one, but it had a weird chemically smell to me when brewed, that was really off-putting.

  • Golden Spring

    

I am not a black tea fan, and I was surprised by how much I liked this one. It had none of the bitterness of Ceylon; rather a malty, rich, honeylike well-rounded flavor that needed no sugar. My new favorite black tea. :) (195/3 minutes)

  • Hunan Gold

    

This is a tricky one to brew. At 180 and 3 minutes, too bitter. At 165 and 2 minutes, not enough flavor. Still trying to find that perfect brewing spot!

  • White Monkey

    

The first time I tried this was at 180 for 2 or 3 minutes (can't remember) but it was so bitter as to be undrinkable. After reading some reviews, I followed people's advice and brewed it lower. What a difference! At 169/2 minutes, it has a seaweedy, mildly nutty flavor with mild astringency. Totally not getting the smoke flavor that other people have noted. I'm gladI gave it a second chance! Looking forward to successive steeps.

  • Autumn Mist Green

    

Guess I'm in the minority, as this one is very popular--but I just couldn't get around the weird mix of flavors. I do love green tea, but all I could taste was a nasty medicinal flavor with spices and I guess what is the creme brulee (the overwhelming maple syrupy taste). I love most of Adagio's offerings, and love trying new teas! But this one just didn't do it for me.

  • Irish Breakfast

    

I'm not a plain black tea lover, but can appreciate why people like it. It was a strong, hearty black tea with a surprising lemony flavor.

  • Shi Feng Long Jing

    

Beautiful long, flat leaves. When brewed it is the palest of chartreuse color with a vegetal, mildly astringent taste. Mildly nutty. Looking forward to successive steeps (2 and 3 minutes at 169).

  • Rooibos Almond

    

This one shocked me, as I'm usually a hater of anything rooibos. Somehow, the almond obscured the usually (to me nasty taste of the rooibos, and I kind of enjoyed this one! I got through almost the entire cup! Usually, roo makes me nauseous and I dump the cup after one sip. Very strange...

  • Rooibos Vanilla

    

This tastes horrible to me, although I admittedly am NOT a fan of rooibos in any way, shape, or form. Red rooibos actually makes me nauseous when I drink it. This one has a very artificial vanilla taste that does not mask the awful roo flavor. I love Adagio to death! but this one is a big "hellz no" for me, yuk.

  • Pi Lo Chun

    

This was gifted to me by a sweet tea friend. It was delicious! I didn't get any smokiness, but it did have a buttery, nutty, slightly floral taste that lingered on the tongue after I was done sipping it. Really enjoyed this one! (176/2 min.)

  • Sour Apple

    

The whole time I drank this I was thinking it tasted just like a Jolly Rancher. It was way too sour for me. This was a big fat no, couldn't even finish my cup. Way too much hibiscus.

  • Honeybush Pumpkin Chai

    

I wasn't expecting to like this one (honeybush freaks me out, and I'm not a fan of pumpkin) but was pleasantly surprised! The spices weren't too harsh, the pumpkin didn't overwhelm the other flavors, and overall it was a nice cup of nighttime tea. I may not be so hesitant to try more honeybush after this.

  • Sencha Premier

    

This was so delicious. Delicate, grassy, yet buttery. Had a real melt-in-your-mouth-feel. I accidentally oversteeped this at my job (5 minutes at unknown hot water temp) and it wasn't at all bitter. I can't wait to try a properly brewed cup!

  • Pu-erh Dante

    

Earth, leather, fishy sea air, and hay, with a nice kick of caffeine. It's an acquired taste for sure! Next time I will try a pre-rinse and see if that cuts down on the fishiness.

  • Cocomint Green

    

Yum! This is very good, like a guilt-free dessert. I love chocolate tea and green tea, so this is the best of both worlds! At 1 tsp/cup it was a little weak, so next time I will double the amount.

  • Green Rooibos Blueberry

    

Not a rooibos lover. I tried this as part of the CommuniTea. It didn't make me nauseous like red rooibos does, but I couldn't finish my cup. It's just personal preference though, more so than the tea, I'm sure.

  • Jade Snail

    

This tasted so much better when brewed at much lower temps than recommended. At 165 and 2 minutes, this is delicious, with delicate vegetal notes of seaweed or spinach. Even 1 minute more and it starts to get bitter. At 180 and 2 or3 minutes, it was so bitter as to be undrinkable. Not much wiggle room here, but worth it!

  • Hazelnut

    

Super yummy at 195 and 2 minutes. Anything longer and hotter (to me) was too bitter, but this was just right. I sprinkled in some brown sugar to sweeten it up, and it was very good. Would be excellent with some dark chocolate or chocolate chips!

  • Rooibos Cinnamon Apple

    

I was able to make it through 2 sips and had to pitch it. Disclaimer: I can't stand rooibos, and tried this as part of the CommuniTea. I also don't like those spongy little apple pieces in my tea, they freak me out! Sorry Adagio, I love most of your teas, but this one was a hard pass.

  • Decaf Hazelnut Cinnamon Creme

    

So delicious! Even my Lipton-teabag-dust-only-drinking husband really enjoyed this one. It is wonderfully chocolately and hazelnutty, with a lesser emphasis on the creme. I usually am not a fan of black teas--finding them to be too bitter--but I've been brewing at lower temps and this one really shines!

  • Chocolate Chai

    

New favorite! A warm, complex, not over-the-top-spicy tea with mild chocolatiness. Delicious!

  • Pu-erh Spice

    

Nice chai-like tea. I was afraid it would be too heavy on the anise, as I'm not crazy about that spice, but it wasn't. I prefer Chorange and Hazelberry Pu Erhs to this one...the Pu ERh flavor isn't obscured by spice.

  • Minty Comfort

    

I wasn't expecting to like this one because of the lemongrass, juniper berries and eucalyptus (which always smells to me like cat pee). However, it was predominantly peppermint, and surprisingly good. Somehow all those flavors combined to make a soothing blend which was perfect for a stressful day. Would be good with honey.

  • Earl Grey Bravo

    

I am giving this a solid 3 stars, as I feel I can't give an unbiased review. I just don't like the taste of Earl Grey. I tried this as part of the CommuniTea, and it just tastes to me like other Earls I've tried. I think it's that weird, Fruit Loop-y taste that is just really off-putting. I know other folks really love it, so it's probably pretty good as Earl Greys go. Just not for me.

  • Honeybush Vanilla

    

This was the first time I ever had honeybush. (Disclaimer: I cannot stand its cousin rooibos.) This just had a nasty, chemically, plastic-vanilla taste to it that made me gag. I chucked it after a couple sips. Yuk.

  • Chocolate Truffle

    

Delicious dark chocolate flavor. Like a decadent dessert! A little bitter when brewed at 212, had to add a bit of honey. Next time I will brew at 195-200 and see how it goes.

  • Jasmine Chun Hao

    

This is a delicate, light jasmine that is delightful to drink. While it lacks the complexity of, say, Jasmine Phoenix Pearls, it is a very good low-cost green jasmine. Ten pinkies up!

  • Pu-Erh Poe

    

Old bong water strained through an even older biker leather jacket. I love pu-erhs but OMG, this was horrid beyond words...

  • Golden Flower

    

Not my fave, but I'm thinking this may be because I am realizing I'm not a big fan of oolongs. The liquor is definitely golden in color, and it's fun to watch the leaves unfurl. It is honeysuckley and a little too floral and something else--mineral?-- to me. This has mostly great reviews so I think it's more me than the tea, just personal preference.

  • Mango Green

    

This one was weak tasting @ 1tsp/3 min./180. No mango detected. Second time I used 2 tsp. and it was still weak. No apparent mango flavor, just a hint of sweetness. More like an herbal tea than a green tea. Would not buy again.

  • Calypso Green

    

This was a very light, delicate tea--decent, but not great. At 2 tsp/cup I could taste the coconut (very good, not artificial) and a bit of tropical fruit. Iced with a bit of stevia, it was even better. I wouldn't buy this again, except maybe during the dog days of summer as a refreshing iced tea.

  • Rooibos Cocomint

    

I am not a rooibos lover. That said, this had a weird chemical smell/taste that was not chocolatey. It was better than most rooibos I've had, I actually was able to finish the whole cup. Personal preference, I'll stick to my greens and Pu Erhs, sorry!

  • Throat Therapy

    

Tried this as part of the CommuniTea. I don't like anise, licoice, or hibiscus, so the flavor of this was not for me. I don't doubt it's goof for a sore throat, though.

  • Pu-erh Chorange

    

This is delicious and decadent, like a yummy chocolate dessert. It is heavier on the chocolate than the orange, which is fine with me. This may be my favorite tea yet--I am loving the earthiness of pu erhs. It is just as good on the second steep.

  • Jolly Roger

    

Not my favorite, but that's probably because I don't like the flavor of honeybush. I know people really love this tea. It is very pretty in the bag, lots of colorful different bits of things. The butterscotch gives it a nice flavor. I prefer Adagio's straight Butterscotch to this blend.

  • Forest Berries

    

Delightful fruity aroma right out of the bag. Little pieces of dried fruit and a couple tiny raspberry leaves in the mix. When brewed it was a little bitter, but some stevia mellowed it out and it had a nice strawberry flavor to it.

  • Apricot

    

Didn't love this one as much as I thought I would, as I love apricots. I think it has more to do with personal preference (like green teas way better than black). I have been brewing black teas at a lower temp and they taste less bitter to me, so I will revisit this one at maybe 200 degrees or 195 next time.

  • Cream

    

This smells really good in the bag. It was bitter when I brewed it at the rec'd time and temp, I had to put stevia in it. I have started brewing black teas at a lower temp and/or for not as long, so I'm going to try that next time with this one. I think this would be a good one to blend with Adagio's fruity teas (going to do 1/2 and 1/2 peach and cream, yum).

  • White Peach

    

This is delicious and fragrant, and so delicate. I actually drink this at night before bed sometimes and have no trouble falling asleep. I double up the amount of it to get a more peachy taste. Try it; it is so very good.

  • Mocha Nut Mate

    

First time drinking mate, I was surprised how coffeelike this was! I liked this way better than the toasted mate.

  • Vanilla Chai Tea Bags

    

Medicinal with a very prominent gingerbread taste. The vanilla was artificial tasting. Not good, I've had much tastier chaos.

  • Chocolate Pu Erh

    

This is delicious, especially for teabag tea. If you are a fan of chocolate and pu erh, it is a double win. Rich, warm, and comforting.

  • Honey Vanilla Chamomile

    

Underwhelming, weak flavor. Much prefer Sleepytime and their peach chamomile blends.

  • Herbal Laxative

    

It does what it promises to do--make you poop! Strong licorice flavor, gave me terrible cramping, probably due to the senna. Would only drink this again if I was desperate.

  • CHOCOLATE MACAROON

    

This is delicious! As one reviewer said, it tastes like an Almond Joy...almost makes me want to put cream and sugar in it. One star off because you need to double the amount they suggest.

  • Coco Colada

    

This tastes EXACTLY like a Pineapple Julius!!!! Or, a virgin pina colada. It's reeeeeaaaaaally creamy and good.

  • Red Zinger

    

Uggghhh. Just...uggghhh. If you are a fan of really sour flavors, you may like this. I realized--through my first taste of this, long ago in the hippie days, lol--that I really, REALLY do not like the taste of hibiscus. Or licorice in tea. So for me, a hard pass (to each her own!)

  • Mandarin Orange Spice

    

This is good, I used to drink it all the time when it was always in the supermarket. Haven't seen it in decades but still remember the flavor. It was a really nicely balanced, not overdone mix of spice and mandarin. Would totally get it again if I ever saw it on the shelf; good nighttime tea.

  • Peppermint

    

This is straight up peppermint. Period. That's all that's in it. It's strong. I drink this as a medicinal, if I have an upset stomach. I wouldn't drink it otherwise, I'm not big into the taste of peppermint.

  • Smooth Move

    

The taste of this is nasty, BUT...it delivers. Trust me, you will poop your brains out after drinking this. It is like a less painful and poo-ductive version of the Dreaded Colonoscopy Prep. If you have IBS-C and have trouble getting things moving, this will definitely help you along. Warning: You may experience cramps.

  • KUKICHA TWIG TEA BAGS

    

This was my introduction to kukicha tea. I was a convert as soon as I tasted this. There is nothing like it (I since have moved on to the looseleaf version, because looseleaf tea is just, well, awesome) but the bagged variety of this is great as well. It is a toasty, roasted hearty, loamy, rich cup of amazing. Like you are drinking Mother Earth herself. :) Try it--you will love it or hate it, there is no in-between.

  • Cinnamon Apple Spice

    

Decent fall tea, like a warm sweater. Better with honey. Could do without the sour hibiscus. though

  • Chai Spice Black Tea

    

Not my favorite chai. There's too much of a particular spice that is overwhelming to me. The flavors are jarring and harsh and almost give me a burning sensation when I drink it.

  • Coconut Mango Oolong Tea

    

This is so good. A little bit of paradise in a mug. Nicely balanced, not overwhelming mix of coconut and mango.

  • Earl Grey Green

    

I really don't love this one; I do love green tea, just not with bergamot in it. To me the bergamot flavor just kind of smacks you in the nose. I just don't like Earl Grey period, so it's prolly personal preference...

  • chocolate pu-erh

    

This is delicious, especially for teabag tea! It is rich, chocolatey and satisfying, with a nice kick of caffeine. Good coffee substitute.

  • Sleepytime Classic

    

This got me into herbal teas back in the late 70's...an oldie but goodie. It's a good starter tea! I don't drink it any more as I had switched over to their peach blends, and now pretty much just drink looseleaf tea.

  • Sleepytime Peach

    

It's a good nighttime tea, but I think Country Peach Passion is a better blend.

  • Country Peach Passion

    

This has been my go-to nighttime tea for years--till I recently found Adagio! It's mellow, peachy (without being obnoxious) and chamomiley. Really good for bagged tea.

  • COCONUT RUM GREEN TEA BAGS

    

I found an ancient tin of this from 12 years ago buried in a work cupboard, so I had a couple cups. It sounded great, but sadly had little to no flavor at all. Oh well!

  • Blood Orange

    

I really didn't like this one. Too tart, between the hibiscus and rose hips. It is very pretty however. (It might just be me cuz I really don't like hibiscus)

  • Butterscotch

    

This is good! Strong butterscotch flavor. I didn't get the chocolate from the cocoa nibs, though. It was a bit bitter @ 212/3 min., had to put honey in it. Next time will brew at a lower temp.

  • Peach Serenity

    

This one was just "meh". It tasted weak at 1 tsp per cup, and I got more of the apple and other flavors than I did peach. Didn't taste any chamomile at all. Next time I'll try 2 tsp/cup and maybe I will like it better.

  • Chocolate Hazelnut Defaf Black Tea

    

This is straight up delicious, especially for teabag tea! It's rich, chocolatey goodness, and isn't bitter at all. I love to drink this at night before bed, it's like having a sweet dessert with no calories. :)

  • mango boost

    

This is the most horrible-tasting stuff I've ever put in my mouth (from Tiesta's Maui Mango). OMG, it tastes like rank oniony armpits. Awful!!

  • Roastaroma

    

This is a rich, malty, roasty herbal tea that is more like a coffee type beverage. It is nutty and good...I used to eat the teabag after i was done drinking it; it is like a hot cereal (sounds weird, but try it). A very oldie, but goodie!

  • Peach Oolong

    

Delicious, delicate aroma and flavor. Little to no astringency. A small bit of honey really brought out the peachy goodness. My favorite oolong so far from Adagio.

  • Chocolate Chai Pu Erh

    

WOW is this delicious!!! I am normally not a fan of ginger in my tea, but this works perfectly with the other flavors to make a rich, complex, delicious cup of heaven! I might up the amount to 2 tsp/cup instead of 1 tsp to make it a little stronger, otherwise it's perfect! Brewed 5 min at 209 with no pre rinse.

  • Fujian Rain

    

I really wanted to love this, but I think I am just not a huge fan of oolongs, at least the very dark ones like this. I agree with the reviewer below me who said it tastes more like a black tea. I don't get all the mineral references (still a newbie); guess I am going to have to lick some rocks! ;)

  • Jasmine Silver Needle

    

Perfection in a cup. Light, delicate, floral without being over the top. Simply one of the best teas I have ever drank! The aroma and taste are fabulous.

  • Coconut Grove Pouchong

    

This was good, but not as great as I thought it would be. It was a little bitter on the first steep, yet tasted weak. The second steep tasted better. It did have a lot of coconut pieces in it and had a good coconut flavor.

  • portions sampler - green teas

    

This is my most favorite purchase from Adagio so far. It is fantastic! It was so much fun trying out all the green teas. I found, through this sampler, that I love green tea! (a whole lot more than I like black tea). Some of these were so delicious and intriguing I immediately ordered more. My favorites: Phoenix Jasmine Pearl (I will always have this one), Jasmine Yin Hao, and Genmai Cha. I can't wait to get my order of these tomorrow! :)

  • Citrus Mint Green

    

I'm surprised at how much I like this one! I was expecting it to be like Citron Green, which I didn't like at all. I can see why this is so popular. it's a perfectly balanced mint tea, with not too much citrus. Really good!

  • Sencha Overture

    

Delicious, my kind of green tea. I'm eating Ramens with hot sauce and drinking this seaweedy delight on a gloomy, cloudy day, and it's just what I needed! Already looking forward to my next steep!

Update 10/14/21: A CommuniTea friend gifted me a sample bag of this, and it is just as delicious as it was the first time I tried it. This will probably become one of my go-to green teas. Lovely!

  • Mango

    

This is probably my favorite flavored tea from Adagio so far. It's a light, sweet mango, not artificial. I brewed at a lower temp and added a pinch of stevia and it's very good!

  • Toasted Mate

    

This just tasted like brownish-colored water. I even steeped it twice as long. No flavor whatsoever. Next time I'll try doubling the amount to see if I can get more taste.

  • Dragonwell

    

This is so delicious, and cool looking to boot! It's full, rounded slightly toasty. Just wish it wasn't so pricey.

  • Chili Lime Green

    

It sounds like such a weird combo of flavors, but if you are a chilihead (I am) you will likely love it. Reminds me of Thai cuisine, with the chili/lemongrass/coconut combo. Yum! ADD: 9/19/21 Drinking this again, I can't believe how good it is. It's a crappy rainy day and this is just warming my tummy and my soul...am definitely going to have to order some!

  • Pu-erh Tahiti

    

This is so weak compared to Pu Erh Hazelberry, which I love! I tried doubling the steep time and the amount of tea but it still is weak flavored and I don't get any of the coconut flavor. Gonna stick with my beloved Hazelberry which is 6 stars out of 5!

  • Pu-erh Pearls

    

I love Pu-Erh! This is a fun tea to brew. I did the suggested 1/4 pearl for a cup and wound up steeping for 10 minutes at 212, but it was a little weak. Next time I think I will try a half pearl to get the full flavor.

  • Gyokuro

    

I like this one. It is very (vegetal? green leafy? I am still very new at describing teas) green and healthy tasting, like spinach water. It's too expensive for me, but I really enjoy trying this a as past of the green tea sampler box.

  • Jasmine Yin Hao

    

Delicious, delicate, beautiful. Comparable to Jasmine Phoenix Pearls. Definitely going on my next order!

  • Genmai Cha

    

Fantastic! One of my favorite teas I tasted out of the green tea sampler box. It has a unique, nutty, rounded, toasty rice flavor that I love. It is reminiscent of Rice Krispies, but in a good way! This tea makes me happy, like my soul just got a big old hug. I can't wait to buy more of this! :)

  • Decaf Tropics

    

Didn't love this one. Too astringent for me. Also, the pineapple taste was artificial and dominated the other flavors. To me, pina coladas and tea just don't mix, I guess!

Update: When I lowered the temp from 212 to 195 and tried this one again, it tasted way better and more balanced. Added a star, although not a favorite.

  • Green Rooibos Key West

    

Spoiler: I hate rooibus (but I love Key West, so I wanted to like this one). This was far too weak. I steeped at 212 for 5 minutes, tasted nothing, steeped another 5 minutes. It was still mildly sweet hot water, that was about it. I've tried over 20 Adagio teas and love most of em, this one though was a no-go.

  • Citron Green

    

Tasted too much like Fruit Loops to me! The way the milk tastes after you finish the cereal. Not my thing.

Didn't really love this one, just not a fan of the flavor (although Key West is my happy place!)

  • Sleeping Dragon

Mmmmm, this one is delicious!! Warm, toasty, rich. This was one of my favorites in the Green Tea Portions Sampler. I will definitely be getting more of this!

  • Hojicha

This is freaking delicious!!! I got this in my green tea sampler box, and it is one of my favorites! It has a delicious, warming, nutty roasted flavor that I love.

Edit: I wound up getting 3 solid steeps out of one serving, and a 4th, weaker (but still decent) brew. Definitely reordering next time!

  • Gunpowder

Light and nonoffensive. I was expecting more out of it. Didn't get the smokiness other people say they tasted. It was good, but to me not as great as everyone says it is. I've had other green teas that I think are much better, like the Jasmine Pearls and kukicha.

  • Kukicha

It's good, although very different from other (darker, roasted) kukichas I've had. Light, green, buttery, and clipped/dried grass-like in appearance.

  • Pu-erh Hazelberry

This was my first pu erh and the most delicious tea I have ever drank. I immediately had to get more after sampling it, and then got a yixing teapot to make it in! I love this tea. It is rich, earthy, flavorful, and comforting. I will always keep this in my pantry.

  • PEACH

Sweet and peachy, not artificial. Would blend well with Creme, would probably be delicious iced with a bit of sweetener.

  • Jasmine Phoenix Pearls

This one is my favorite!! It is so much fun watching the pearls slowly unfurl. It is a green, light, delicious jasmine. I treated myself to a little bag of this after trying a sample. I like drinking it in a glass mug as it's so pretty.
