type: black

origin: sri lanka chai

caffeine: strong

price level: $$$$

Our Spiced Apple Chai features the timeless, comforting combination of apples and spice. A lively blend of black tea, classic spices from Indian Masala Chai and bright notes of crisp apple. Juicy and pleasantly sweet, like warm applesauce, with a clean, refreshing texture. We suggest two heaping teaspoons per 8 oz cup. Sugar, cream or soy if desired. Steep at 212°F for 5 minutes

I opened the packet to delicious cinnamon apple aroma, with a hint of other spices. I removed 1 of the 2 cloves, and didn't see any apple pieces. 3 min @ 160 and the brewed tea has a lighter smell, still cinnamon and apple. I tastes cinnamon and apple with a slight sweetness, no bitterness or astringency. I enjoyed a second steep of this black tea, the aroma and flavor were much lighter. I was pleasantly surprised by this black tea.

Like apple pie in a cup. I received a sample of this tea, and I am not a huge cinnamon tea fan but the addition of milk made this tea quite nice!

This tea was mostly cinnamon forward for me, but I could taste the apple more as it cooled. A lighter chai -- very tasty! Excellent cold-brewed, but very nice hot as well! Smells divine!

An introduction to chai/gateway spiced tea. This has a nuanced apple flavor with subtle spiciness. Flavor comes forward as it cools down and good with a bit of honey too.

This is a nice, tasty spiced chai that has a strong apple overtone. I really enjoyed it. I steeped at 200 degrees for 5 minutes.

Chai isnt my favorite but the apple complimented the spices perfectly

The additon of apple pieces to this tasty chai tea is wonderful. It is spicy and sweet; the flavor is further enhanced with a bit of sweetening. For those who enjoy chai lattes, this makes a wonderful one. I recommend it highly.

It's a lighter chai, and really does need you to use more leaf for the best taste. It still has that "apple pie" flavor profile all the same, and is a lovely fall/winter tea.

    • 

This is a lighter chai, the spices aren't as strong as in Masala chai. I can taste cinnamon and apple, which reminded me of apple pie.

This is a great chai! The apple flavor comes out strong and the spices are pretty flavorful too. As a latte lover, I usually drink this one as a latte.

Tried this as a sample in the CommuniTEA. My sample was missing apple pieces, orange pieces and cloves, so I'm not sure how representative it was of the blend. I steeped at 190°F x 2 minutes and sweetened with a little honey. The flavor was reminiscent of hot apple cider with a subtle undertone of black tea. The spice blend is predominantly cinnamon and ginger. The apple flavor becomes more pronounced as it cools.

A great chai, but prefer the Pumpkin Spice mixed with this for more depth of flavor.

So good for the fall! It's like apple pie in a cup, especially if you sweeten it. Alone it can be a little on the light side if you don't use enough tea.

We use heavy cream with this tea. We love it because it’s hints at a good old fashioned apple pie in a cup. So good!

I love apple, I love chai, so this purchase was a definite for me. I'm not as big a fan of black teas, but with a little milk and sugar this tea is absolutely glorious!

Apple pie in a cup. Deliciously spicy as a chai should be. Tried on its own and with milk and honey, more spicy on its own, more fruity with the milk and honey. If you like apple pie, you'll love this!

Knocks your socks off and puts hair on your chest. If you can tolerate the apple base, this will get you going in the morning and keep you running at night. If your into spice, the apple cushions the impact of the spice blend. You may not want to add sugar but I do with cream and this keeps me going into the wee hours of the night

I really love this chai. I had assumed the flavors wouldn't go together, but I was wrong! A pinch of cinnamon and enough apple to really get the flavor. Good with vanilla pastries.

I enjoyed this one, it was a good chai with milk and sugar and still had a bit of apple flavor.

It was a strong chai in and of itself, the ginger and cardamom especially stood out. I didn't detect any apple flavor in my sample though

A nice evening cuppa, spices are all present and accounted for and apple is a subtle player. Overall a nice quiet evening tea.

    • 

It's a lighter chai than I expected, but with great flavor. It's like a spiced apple cider without the sweetness. That might be hard to imagine, but it's what I thought of while drinking it.

Really smooth, lightly spiced chai. The apple flavor really comes through and with a little sugar would taste just like mulled cider. No bitterness and only a tiny bit of astringency from the tea. Nice comforting blend.

Sweet cidery apple aroma is making its way from cup to nostril and it smells so good. It tastes just as good with the tart apples and cinnamony chai flavors. This one is a keeper.

I really liked this tea. Very little astringency. Brewed for 5 min @ 212 F. Really strong cinnamon and spices flavor. Quite a strong tea. I tried adding rock sugar to the tea to mimic a hot cinnamon spice flavor, but that did not turn out as I had hoped and would not recommend. This is really just a solid tea I would recommend

A good chai, but I would have liked to taste more apple since it's in the name itself.

Reminds me a lot of a nice apple cider, but as a tea instead. Very light but refreshing apple and chai flavors. I like to have this tea on Thanksgiving, as it's a nice accompaniment to the meal in my opinion.

Not bad but pretty subtle. Just felt like a standard chai to me.

I didn't love this, it was too savory and the apple flavor is so subtle I barely noticed it.

I liked the rooibos, cinnamon, apple combo. It was warming and tasty.

I enjoyed this tea much more than I thought I would, adding cream to it makes a great fall time drink.

the spice and the chai definitely comes through but the apple is most strong in scent

I wish this had more apple flavor but it's a lovely, spicy chai. Make sure to use the right amount or it comes out tasting thin.

I love this tea! It's the perfect fall cup, and I think the chai and apple flavors meld together very well. It's not a very strong flavor, but I enjoy it nonetheless!

I’m not sure I’ve mastered the steep on this tea yet. Although I follow the recommended serving and steep time instructions, the tea so far has come out bitter. There’s a bitter apple flavor with an far-too-subtle hint of chai. I expected the tea to be spicier like an apple cider. Probably would not get it again, as I prefer the Chocolate Chai Pu Reh for my kick of autumn spice. But as always, I am glad for the experience!

I really enjoy this tea, it reminds me of afternoons at my grandmas house. I like it a little sugar and a tablespoon or two of milk. Just make sure to use about 2 teaspoons of tea per cup, I tried it with less and it was way too weak, but I also like strong tea, so maybe I will have to try it with more =)
